Here is a recap for training #2
Basically, last week we learned about how to escape from GUARD
And it's the advantage given to the top player
So for this week, we learned about how to obtain the BACK
of the opponent from GUARD position
Step 1
Firstly when in GUARD position
As the top player tries to put his hands on your hips for posture up
and break himself from your legs' grip
All you have to do is grab tightly onto his wrists first
While grabbing onto his wrists, you use your hips to push up
And then raise his hands and throw them to either side of your head
That would totally throw his whole body weight to one specific side
Step 2
After that
You use your favoured leg to feel for his hip
In this position
As seen in the photo
The area to put your leg would be on the hip bone area
Whereby it's just slightly below the hip and firmly on his
fleshy thigh muscles
Remember
The other leg is supposed to hold him down
While your hands are still grabbing onto his wrists to hold him down
(ignore the fact that Hilmi's right leg is not on his opponent hips)
Step 3
Using the leg that was placed on your opponent's hips
Get the leverage to shift your body out in a slanted position
Step 4
This is easily the most crucial step
This fourth step is also called "Posting"
Whereby you placed the leg that was used to stepped on your
opponent's hips firmly on the ground
The whole foot should be flat on the ground
Step 5
After you "posted'' your leg on the ground
Use it to propel yourself up towards your opponent's back
And it should be like in this picture above
Then after which
Use your right hand (in this case)
And lift up your opponent's arm from the biceps/triceps area
Your palm should be facing down
And your hand should be like in a palm-strike position
Whereby it's just using the back of your hand to lift up your
opponent's arm
This would throw him off balance
Step 6
As for the final step
You just have to use your momemtum
With your hand underneath your opponent's arm
Rock your body towards your opponent's back
And then roll yourself backwards
And tada!
You would have flipped him over!
But that's not the end!
Remember to put both "hooks" in
Which is your legs
Use both of your legs to grab onto him in a "hooking" position
As the name is derived from
From there
Basically your opponent is rendered sorta ''handicapped''
After getting the BACK position
We also learned about the REAR NAKED CHOKE (RNC in short)
It's a deadly submission which is also commonly known as the "Sleeper Hold"
(apologies on not having pictures for this submission, however this is
a video tutorial at the end of this post)
Some common mistakes pointed out
Do take note that if the opponent is of a considerable larger size
Do NOT let the opponent use his whole body weight and lean onto you
That would actually make you out of breath
and unable to execute anything that you are intending to do
So the correct position is the one whereby you still can maneuver yourself
It's a position whereby you are comfortable and sorta sitting up
After learning how to get the BACK position
We also learned about how to do a basic SCISSORS SWEEP
(people from the previous semester class should remember this)
The purpose of this SCISSORS SWEEP is to get from the GUARD position
And do a FULL MOUNT on your opponent
Same thing in GUARD position
As per getting your opponent's BACK
The only slight difference is that you pull your opponent's neck down
And use your favoured leg to step onto his hip area
Closed-up look
After which
You tilt your body to the side
Same thing
Using the leg that is stepping on your opponent's hip for leverage
Then you slide in your other knee
And using your shin area to press onto your opponent's stomach
While at the same time keeping your hand on your opponent's neck
This would cause him to be constricted
And you having as much control as possible on him
So that he doesn't make the escape
For people with longer legs
You can twist your leg slightly outwards
And fold your other knee in
If not you can shift back yourself
And make the opening bigger between you and your opponent
While in the same time maintaining control over him

Next
Remember about "posting"?
Here it plays a part again
Put the leg that was on your opponent's hip down onto the ground
Just right besides him
Around his knee or calf area
This act as the pivot point
With the pivot point and grabbing onto your opponent's neck
Use a rocking motion and your momemtum
Plus the knee in your opponent's stomach
Flip him over!
Immediately assume the FULL MOUNT position
And squeeze your knees as tightly as possible against his ribs

This week
We had a ''rolling'' session in which we sparred with each other
Hilmi explaining the rules and stuff
While senior members while holding onto the boards to make sure
the participants don't get overly enthusiastic and injured themselves

Overall it was quite an experience for most of the people
They got to feel it first-hand how exhausting it was
And how it actually doesnt pay to use brute strength
Because when using brute strength, a lot of energy is exhausted
And you forgot all about the techniques and grips and everything you learned
And then you placed yourself in all sorts of openings
With plenty of mistakes and stuff
And you land yourself in hot soup when someone managed to submit you
